Your practice. Your preferences.

Guitarbacus is intended for a general audience and is not specifically directed at children under 13.

Using the fretboard

You do not need an account. The fretboard calculates notes in your browser. Guitarbacus does not ask for microphone access, record your playing, or upload your practice selections to a practice database.

Saved preferences on this device

The tool stores your root, mode, display options, and fret range in your browser's local storage under guitarbacus.v2. These settings are used to restore the fretboard on your next visit. They remain until you clear them or your browser removes site data.

You can remove those settings below. If you use the fretboard again, it will save new settings. A shared scale link includes the selected scale and display settings in its address, so anyone you share it with can see those selections.

Site access and contact

Your browser sends information needed to request pages, including an IP address and browser details, to the hosting provider. The site is hosted on GitHub Pages. GitHub may keep access and security logs; see its privacy statement. URLs, including scale selections in a shared link, may appear in those logs.

If you email us, your address and message are used to respond and follow up. Please avoid sending sensitive information that is not needed for your question. Contact us to ask about access to or deletion of messages you have sent.

Advertising and analytics

This site loads Google’s AdSense script to deliver consent messages. Google receives connection information such as your IP address and browser details and may store your consent choices in cookies or similar storage. Advertising placements remain disabled while the site is being prepared for ads.

If Google AdSense is enabled, Google and other advertising vendors may use cookies or similar technologies and process information such as IP addresses and browser details to deliver and measure ads, prevent fraud, and, where permitted by your choices, personalize advertising based on visits to this and other sites.

Google Analytics loads only after Google’s consent service reports explicit analytics consent. It uses cookies such as _ga to measure site usage. Advertising personalization and Google signals are disabled in this integration. We send page addresses without scale-query settings; Analytics may also collect device and interaction information. Unknown, declined, unconfigured or region-inapplicable consent leaves Analytics off. Changing consent choices pauses measurement while you decide again. You can learn more about how Google uses information from partner sites and manage Google ad personalization through My Ad Center.

Advertising choices

Where Google offers a regional opt-out link, use that link to manage the corresponding choices. You can clear stored cookies using your browser’s site-data settings.

Your choices and questions

Your browser settings can clear or restrict cookies and local storage. Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict use of personal information. Email us to make a request or ask how it applies to information handled by this site.
