The improviser's companion

Built for the joy of improvising.

Guitarbacus was created by Steven Fenczik to make the relationships between guitar notes easier to see and explore.

The idea grew out of years of jamming and studying music: a movable pattern can help connect scales, chords, and the whole neck. The tool and lessons are meant to support listening and experimentation on your own instrument.

Guitarbacus 2.0 brings that idea directly into the browser, with a responsive fretboard and written lessons. You can practice without an account.
